I've read the other two books in the Serendipity Series and loved them, but this one holds a special place in my heart. Dylan is my favorite hero. He's the perfect combination of bad boy and alpha male and just what Emerson needs--though she doesn't realize it. Loved this book so hard.

Emerson is trying to repent for her old life. Rich daddy who dotted on her, dating the high school captain of the football team, cheerleader, the world at her beck and call. Then daddy goes to jail for selling government secrets and Emerson's world is turn up-side down. Fast forward a few years. Emerson is now working three jobs, taking care of her 19 year old sister Gabby, and going to college. One of her jobs is cleaning house for Jordy and his roomate Dylan. Jordy offered Emerson the job to get her out of Earl's Temptations, a seedy strip club. Emerson's housecleaning job at Jordy's puts gives her a front row seat to the bachelor lifestyle Dylan leads. Hot, sexy as hell, Dylan. Dylan Mercado is every woman's dream. Hot, sexy, and rich. He owns one of the most successful exotic car dealerships in the state. Dylan has had his eye on Emerson since the one and only time he saw Emerson perform at Earl's. When Jordy tells Dylan he has offered Emerson a job as housekeeper, Dylan puts up a fight. He feels things for Emerson he doesn't want to admit and having her around will make it hard to behave. As Dylan and Emerson begin to explore their mutual attraction, Emerson's past catches up to her. After a threatening note and slashed tire, things escalate into a home invasion, and threatening the lives of those she loves. Her father's past criminal indiscretions have brought some very bad people to her front door. Will Dylan stand by Emerson or is she just another notch in Dylan's bedpost? This is the first book I've read by Brinda Berry and it won't be the last. The story is well written and flows extremely well. We learn about Emerson's early life, pre-daddy in jail, her crazy mother, and why she guards her heart. We also learn why Dylan is such a "man whore" and treats women like a disposable object. The author does a great job of pulling the reader into Emerson and Dylan's struggle with their feelings for each other. You want to root for them in one chapter and smack Dylan with a 2x4 the next. But when stuff gets real, Dylan proves he's the man to capture Emerson's heart.
